Crime Combating Unit Reaction Team, along with Welkom Flying Squad received information about suspects stealing hospital property and followed up the intel.
On Wednesday, 02 March, the teams followed the information received and operationalised it.
Authorities went to a foreign national business at Reahola Hostel in Welkom as led by the information. Upon arrival, they spotted a red vehicle and signalled it to stop.
The vehicle had two occupants and one fled from the police. However, these police teams did not rest until they apprehended this suspect. According to the police statement, the suspect possessed suspected stolen toilet paper and cleaning material.
“These items are believed to be properties of Bongani Hospital,” read the statement.

The 34-year-old suspect was arrested and is set to soon appear before Welkom Magistrate Court.
