Man nabbed for stealing Vodacom panel and tower batteries

Zamdela: SAPS members conducting crime prevention duties arrested a man on Tuesday, 19 October
2021 at about 23:00.

The man was in possession of suspected stolen panel and four (4) solar tower batteries suspected to be the property of Vodacom.

While the members were patrolling the streets at night, they noticed a white suspicious Toyota bakkie.

They decided to stop and search the bakkie and its occupants.

The bakkie stopped and three occupants immediately jumped out of the stationary bakkie and ran away.

Members gave chase and managed to catch a driver.

The motor vehicle was searched whereby two solar panels and 4 solar tower batteries were found.

The seized property was printed Vodacom which raised suspicion that they belong to this network service
provider.

The monetary value of these items was estimated to be R100 000. The bakkie was also
confiscated for being involved in commission of a crime.

The arrested 32 years old suspect of Zimbabwean national, will be charged for possession of suspected
stolen property and for being an illegal immigrant.

He is expected to appear at Sasolburg Magistrates’ court on Friday, 22 October 2021.
