The Matjhabeng Municipality employee was arrested today, 22 December, after he was found to be in possession of suspected stolen properties belonging to the municipality and will appear before the Welkom Magistrate Court.
A joint operation by Matjhabeng Municipality law enforcement, SAPS Lejweleputswa District Task Team and a private security company was held to follow up information on properties of the municipality.
“The house of the employee was identified and approached and permission was requested to search his premises,” read the issued statement.
Upon the arrest, the police discovered, a large quantities of plumbing equipment, tools, machinery, power tools, personal protective clothing and other sundry goods like fittings and clamps.

The police said the items seized are valued at R50 000.
