The 52-year-old Matjhabeng Municipality employee, Edwin Molelekoa, received R1 000 bail, and his case has been postponed to 21 January 2022, for further investigation.
The accused appeared before Welkom Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 28 December 2021, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
Background
Authorities conducted a joint operation involving Matjhabeng Municipality law enforcement; SAPS Lejweleputswa District Task Team and a private security company which led to Matjhabeng Municipality employee’s house on Wednesday, 22 December 2021.
During their search, they found and seized equipment belonging to the municipality valued at R50 000. Items included plumbing equipment; tools; machinery; power tools; PPEs and other sundry goods like fittings and clamps.
