The Welkom police are looking for an African male suspect following the rape of a 30-year-old woman on November 7th, last year.
According to the Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the unidentified man stopped the woman on her way to work form Paballong Village, Welkom.
“Allegedly, the suspect robbed the woman of her phone and raped her thereafter,” added Thakeng.
Furthermore, the man threatened to kill the woman like he did another man in the same area. He warned his victim the man he referenced was uncooperative, and that the woman would suffer the same fate.
Following the incident, the petrified victim fled to a nearby main road in Rietz Park. She was helped by duo African men who called the police.
“Reports state the suspect wore a camouflage cap with dark sunglasses, a grey jersey with blue jeans and black sneakers. Also, he is quite tall and has a scar on the right side of his face,” informed Thakeng.
The police registered a case of rape for further investigation.
