The horrifying rape ordeal of a school girl occurred on December 4th, last year, when a young lady was waiting for transport with her boyfriend on Solomon street in Riebeeckstad, Welkom. The Welkom police are still on a manhunt for the suspects.
According to the Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, three unknown African men approached the couple.
“The men instructed the boyfriend to take-off his clothes, but he did not comply. As a result, they struck him with a gun on the head which led to his compliance and ultimately fleeing, leaving his girlfriend with the suspects,” added Thakeng.
Allegedly, the trio forced the schoolgirl to remove her clothes, leaving her with nothing more than a t-shirt. Furthermore, they forcefully led the girl to a nearby open field and gang raped her at knife and gunpoint. The victim was also robbed of her two Samsung phones.
“The victim did not sustain further physical injuries,” informed Thakeng.
Eventually, the horrified victim managed to flee the scene and sought help. She informed the police that all three suspects spoke Sesotho and smoked marijuana.
A case of rape has been registered for further investigation. According to the victim, the suspects could be between the ages of 20 and 30.
