In March this year, Mojalefa Vinger forced himself to a defenseless elderly woman in an open field, where he physically attacked and raped the woman and leaving her in unconscious state.
A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to ten (10) years in prison for raping an 61-year-old woman in Hennenman.
Mojalefa Vinger, was found guilty by the Hennenman Regional Court today, September 9, and a judgment was served.
The regional court also ordered that the accused’s name be added to the national sex offenders register.
Earlier this year in March 5, an elderly woman was found lying half-naked during early hours by a passer-by, after she was raped and left unconscious.
Lejweleputswa police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng said the police were then summoned to the scene, where they found the victim in a stupefied state.
“An elderly woman was found lying on the ground half-naked, and she couldn’t utter a word,” Thakeng says.
Thakeng further added that the police found a backpack next to the victim, and it belonged to the accused.
He said the preliminary investigations revealed that the accused lobbied the old lady to take her home after he bumped her in the open field, however, the accused then started to physically attack the woman and raped her on the scene.
“The accused was then arrested the following day on March 6, following the successful investigation operation by the Hennenman police and Thabong police unit’s investigating officer, detective constable Kamohelo Khokho, who kept the accused in police custody until the finalisation of trial,” says Thakeng.
