Free State serial rapist to serve 4 life sentences in jail

The Bultfontein Regional Court sentenced the notorious serial rapist, Mkhuselo Reginald Mokole, to four life sentences plus an additional 15 years behind bars.

According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, Mkhuselo’s sentences emanated several cases of rape and robbery in 2017.

Mkhuselo’s first case was that of a 13-year-old girl raped in March 2017, in Hoopstad.

“On the day of the incident, the victim was sent to the shop where she encountered the the accused. The man then gave her a SASSA card to deliver to his sister.

“The perpetrator followed the young girl and took her to a different area and raped her,” Thakeng informed.

About a month after the first atrocity committed by Mkhuselo, he went on to rape an elderly citizen.

It is alleged that the 62-year-old woman was walking over a bridge when she saw the perpetrator sitting on the side.

“When the woman passed him, Mkhuselo grabbed her and they both rolled down the bridge.

“The perpetrator raped and robbed his victim, and he threatened the victim with a knife,” said Thakeng.

In May 2017, it is was also found that the serial rapist went on another hunt in Odendaalsrus, where he grabbed a young 14-year-old girl to an opens field and raped her.

Back in Hoopstad, the accused found himself another unsuspecting victim.

The 17-year-old girl on her way to her mother’s place when the perpetrator approached and asked her do deliver a clinic card to one of the nurses at the local clinic. Like he did with his other victims, Mkhuselo followed the young girl.

“He forced her to an open field and raped her. He also threatened the girl with a knife,” Thakeng reported.

All incidents were reported to the police and rape and robbery cases were registered for further investigation.

Detective sergeant Ntombi Selemogo of Lejweleputswa District FSC investigated the cases. She had the assistance of warrant officer Fanie van der Merwe of Provincial Serial and Electronic Crime Investigation,” informed Thakeng.

This joint venture led to the arrest of these 28-year-old serial rapist who terrorised communities in 2017.

The Free State provincial commissioner, general Baile Motswenyane, praised the two Detectives for ensuring a thorough investigation which led to the arrest of the perpetrator.

“Keep up this good work and it’s a minus one rapist from our society,” concluded Motswenyane.
