Child rapist sentenced to life imprisonment

Bultfontein: The accused Nzimeni Faniswa aged 34 was sentenced to life imprisonment at Brandfort Regional Court on Thursday, 12 August 2021.

The sentencing follows an incident where the accused raped his girlfriend’s 12-year-old niece in past two years in 2019.

On Saturday, the 16 November 2019, the victim was left at home by her aunt who went to a nearby tavern with the accused.

Unbeknown to aunt, the accused left the tavern and went back to the house. Upon arrival the accused subsequently raped the 12 year old girl and went back to the tavern.

The following morning, on the 17 November 2019, the victim reported the incident to her aunt and the incident was reported to the nearby police station, where a case of rape was registered for further investigation.

The case was assigned to Detective Constable Vuyisile Salemane of Bultfontein Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

He worked tirelessly to ensure that justice is served so that perpetrators. The accused was arrested and found guilty as charged.

Advocate Jantjies was prosecuting while Mr Sisusa was the Presiding Officer.

The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Maj Gen Lerato Molale welcomed the judgment and lauded the investigating officer Constable Salemane and prosecuting teams for their diligence for securing this heavy conviction against the merciless rapist.
