Police have arrested three suspects who allegedly committed burglary at one of the farm houses in Wesselsbron yesterday, January 25.
The trio were found with illegal firearm at about 4:00 pm on Thursday.
The police confirmed that the suspects, aged between 33 and 41, were allegedly on a mission to sell a variety of illegal firearms in Lesotho.
“We received a tip-off. As a result, on January 24 and January 25, 2024 from 11:45 p.m. until 4:00 pm. members [police] of the Seloshesha and Welkom tactical response teams were deployed at one of the borders,” says Lejweleputswa police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng.
Thakeng says following a tip-off, another police reported that they had used his private vehicle to visit a house in a
section called Dipompong Monyakeng in Wesselsbron.
“All three suspects found in the house were arrested, and the firearms were confiscated,” Thakeng said.
All suspects will appear before the Wesselsbron Magistrate Court soon.
