4 men bust in Dealesville with R100k counterfeit notes

The police in Dealesville seized R100 000 fake notes, following a tip-off of the illegal operation in Tshwaraganang, where four suspects allegedly from Gauteng province, were arrested in possession of counterfeit money.

“SAPS Members from received information from residents about African men buying items with fake money. Four suspects were arrested with cash and a vehicle were seized,” said police spokesperson in the district captain Stephen Thakeng.

“On Thursday, 1 April at about 12:00, police officers found these suspects buying from foreign national shops with this fake money.

” Police officers instantly followed up the information and noticed a red Mazda 323 with Gauteng Province registration numbers and approached it.

The vehicle was stopped and a request was made to search the vehicle which was granted,” added Thakeng.

While the police were busy searching, they discovered cash that amounts to R100 000, believed to be counterfeit.

Thakeng said these suspects will appear soon in the Dealesville Magistrate Court.
