The South African Police Service task team ‘Welkom K9 unit’ followed information from the Provincial Counter Narcotics unit, about an illegal distillery at a farm near Welkom.
Upon arrival at the farm, local authorities arrested two males aged 34, tried to flee but were arrested.
The 61-year-old farm owner who rented a farm to the suspects was also arrested after a 38 special revolver without a license was found in his vehicle.

According to Free State SAPS Spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, suspects will be charged for contravening the Free State Liquor and Gambling Authority Act.
“The South African Revenue Services S Customs Excise is likely to add other charges as investigation progresses,” revealed Colonel Mbambo.
The three suspects are due to appear in the Welkom Magistrate Court.
According to SAPS, the case has been handed over to the Hawks for further investigation.
