Free State Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation arrested two suspects aged 32 and 45 for illegal pre-paid electricity sales.
First suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 27 October 2021, in Senekal, Free State. Authorities then arrested the second suspect on Thursday, 28 October 2021, in Witbank, Mpumalanga.
This is an ongoing project driven investigation carried out by the Free State Hawks in concert with Eskom Investigators.
‘Ghost vending’ involves the illegal sales and purchases of electricity.
Suspects will appear before Fochville Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 29 October 2021, and join their 30 co-accused.
