Two minor girls fall victim to sexual offences

Two minor girls fell victim to sexual offences on two separate incidents alleged to have occurred in Rammolutsi, Viljoenskroon.

The first incident, allegedly involving an 11-year-old girl, occurred at a Primary School, on Monday, 08 November 2021.

Her teacher called her to his office at about 10:00. The 11-year-old alleged that upon her arrival at the office, the teacher told her that he missed her.

She further alleged the teacher pulled her closer and asked her to kiss him. The girl added that she refused and went back to her class. After school the victim told her mother about her ordeal.

The following day, the victim’s mother went to the school regarding the matter. Thereafter she took the child to press charges at the police station.

They opened a sexual assault case.

The suspected 51-year-old teacher is not yet arrested as the docket will be taken to the state prosecutor to determine whether he should be formally charged or not.

The second incident, involves a 13-year-old girl raped at her home on Wednesday, 10 November 2021.

Alleged, a known man entered the victim’s house at around 17:00. Furthermore, he dragged the girl to the bedroom and raped her.

Police arrested the 23-year-old suspect after the report of the incident.

He will appear before Viljoenskroon Magistrates’ Court for rape charge on Friday, 12 November 2021.

Fezile Dabi Acting District Commander, Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane, is appealing to community members to stand up against rape.

She goes on to make a clarion call to males to refrain from degrading the dignity and human rights of innocent women and children.

“We cannot live in a community where rape seems to be a tolerable trend by men irrespective of their status or power. We will ensure that they are arrested and placed before court to face the wrath of the law,” concluded Brigadier Mbeloane.
