Two corpse, one headless body discovered in Welkom’s Saaiplaas Shaft mine

Welkom police have unearthed bodies of three men in a decomposed state, amongst the shocking discovery of these bodies, the other body was found without a head in Saaiplas Shaft mine in Welkom, Free State.

The police said on Thursday, 19 May afternoon, mine security personnel were on duty when they sensed a foul and unusual smell, and discovered a deep hole, covered with stones, with decomposed bodies underneath.

Security officials then alerted the police following shocking discovery.

“They summoned their supervisor and started to remove some stones and they saw a leg of a human being, then they called the police,” an issued statement read.

On the arrival of the police, stones were removed with the assistance of Matjhabeng Fire Brigade to remove big stones.

“Three bodies were discovered and the third body was without a head,” a statement read.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an empty cartridge was found next to this hole in the mine premises.

All of the bodies were in a decomposed state.

“A case of triple murder has been registered for further investigation,” the Lejweleputswa police said.

“Relatives and suspects are wanted after this gruesome discovery.

The two bodies had tekkie shoes white and blue in colour while the third body without a head had no shoes,” statement further read.
