The lifeless body of a man found floating in a dam near Winnie Park in Bronville, on Saturday has shocked residents as they still battle to deal with the devastating discovery.
The police were summoned to the scene by members of the community after noticing the body floating.
Upon arrival, the scene was cordoned and SAPS Diving Unit members were also summoned to the scene and managed to retrieve the body from the water.
The Bronville police are requesting the public to assist in identifying an unknown African male who was found floating in a dam.
Lejweleputswa police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng said, medical services personnel were summoned and the African male was found suspected to have drowned and was certified dead.
“There were no visible injuries on the body. A case of Inquest has been registered for further investigation,” revealed Thakeng.
The deceased is a African male who could be 38 to 42-years-old.
“The body was already in a decomposed state. He was wearing a blue Jean trouser, a brown t-shirt and could be 1,7 meters tall,” he said.
Thakeng said the deceased’s body is still kept in Welkom government mortuary and is not yet identified.
