Today, many young women have championed and conquered transformation of gender inequalities, as they own businesses that were traditionally meant for men.
Samantha Makhafola is a 24-year-old who owns a photography business trading as, Samantha Wa Photography.
Samantha told Kasi Voice News that, being an academia of Bachelor of Social Science in University of the Free State (UFS) didn’t stand in the way of her childhood dream of becoming a photographer.
“Photography is my passion and I have always loved it since I was young. I am a very observant individual and I love capturing beautiful moments and keeping them as memories,” said Samantha.
Samantha further said, being in the homeland area like Qwaqwa made her see the beauty of nature.
She says, during the hardships of nationwide lockdown last year, 2021, she decided to buy her equipment for her photography business.
The photographer further said, one of her biggest achievement it is to enter the field as a female, since the industry is male dominated.
She says that seeing a smile on someone’s face after capturing the picture, it is what makes her to love her job more.
“It feels great when someone goes through their journey and look at my photographs and be satisfied ” she added.
With South Africa being rated as a country with high crime rate, Samantha says although she loves doing her job with high distinction, her backlog has to do with safety, which hinders her to go extra mile in line with her photography work.
Samantha concluded by saying, her soon-to-be true wish is to see herself amongst a list of famously and renowned photographers.
