Man who raped, impregnated his younger sister set to appear in court!

A 21-year-old man who raped his 14-year-old sister and making her pregnant‚ has been arrested by the police in Winburg.

The police said in a statement the case dates back to eight months ago.

Lejweleputswa police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng says the mother of the victim and the suspect was in great shock when her daughter confessed to have been impregnated by her own brother.

The victim then told her mother on Tuesday, August 23 that she is 28 weeks pregnant and that she was impregnated by her brother, who is reportedly the father of the child.

It is alleged that the girl was alone at home in January earlier this year at about 16:00, when her brother came home.

“She was in the bedroom and entered, accosted her and tied up both her hands at the back with his shoe laces. He pushed her on the bed, undressed her and raped her. She never told anyone about what happened,” Thakeng says.

Thakeng says the incident was addressed to the Winburg police station, and a case of rape was opened.

The 21-year-old man was arrested and he is expected to appear before the Winburg Magistrate Court.
