Two suspects are set to appear before the Winburg Magistrate Court, after robbing a truck driver at a gun point.
Lejweleputswa spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, said that, suspects asked for a hitch-hike from a 52-year-old truck driver that was traveling from George.
“He was refilling the Volvo truck with diesel when a person who introduced himself as Denver Jacobs asked for a hike together with his assistant,” says Thakeng.
“They travelled together until they reached the vicinity of Jakkalsdrift district Winburg, when he wanted to relieve himself,” added Thakeng.
The truck driver alleged that when he came back he was pointed with the handgun and he was ordered to jump off the truck.
The two suspect then tied him up with a chain on his neck.
The suspects afterwards fled the scene with the truck that was full of wheat.
The truck driver reported the case of truck hijacking to the Ventersburg police station after he managed to untie himself.
Welkom K9 Unit and nearby police station were then alerted about the incident.
The two suspects who are between ages of 25 and 27 who are from Western Cape and Henneman were arrested in Ventersburg and they were found with a truck a retay gas pistol.
