A 31-year-old complainant reported a robbery at his house to the Meloding police on Thursday, 15 June. All suspects were arrested after a tip-off.
The Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, reported that the complainant heard a knock at his residential house in Steka street in Meloding, Virginia, at around 02:00 before getting robbed.
“Upon responding, the door was then kicked open to force entry and four African males entered,” added Thakeng.
The men were armed with knives and instructed the complainant not make any noise. Furthermore, the men searched and robbed the house of a computer box, a wire fence, a graphics card, a sat cable and a USB stick. All items are valued at R2 380.
After reporting the incident to Meloding police and registering a house robbery case, the police received a tip-off on the matter.
The tip-off led to the arrest of all four suspects aged between 24 and 31. All reportedly stolen items were found in the suspects’ possession and seized.
“All suspects will appear before the Virginia Magistrate Court on Monday, 19 June.
The acting Lejweleputswa district commissioner, Brigadier Mzondi Mojafi, applauded the Meloding VISPOL for the swift response to information from residents.
