Residents bust robbery suspect red handed!

Two armed men robbed cash at gun point at a household in Odendaalsrus on Friday, 18 March and neighbours managed to catch one suspect.

At around 09:00 the complainant’s four children played outside at their residential area in Block 4, Kutloanong, while she took a bath. Suddenly, the children came inside the house to tell her of the armed men who had arrived.

The pair of unknown African men entered the house and demanded cash. According to the police report, suspects managed to get R5 000 and fled.

After the robbery ordeal, the victim screamed to her neighbours for help and they instantly chased the suspects.

“Residents managed to catch one suspect and handed him to the Odendaalsrus police,” read the report.

In his possession, the 38-year-old foreign national suspect had an unlicensed firearm and the robbed cash.

The second suspect remains on the run.

The suspects is facing house robbery and will appear before Odendaalsrus Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 22 March.

Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale, applauded Kutloanong residents for effecting the arrest and handing the suspect over to the police. He further encouraged other residents to copy this best practice from Kutloanong residents.
