Four alleged drug dealers busted in Odendaalsrus

The Odendaalsrus police, along with the Welkom K9 Unit, organised an operation targeted at houses known to be selling drugs in the community yesterday.

According to the Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the Odendaalsrus’ station commander, colonel Thenjiwe Mkhumbeni led the operation.

The police then visited the first identified house where a request to search the house was made to the owner.

“Upon searching the premises after receiving permission, the police found dagga weighing 557g and seized it,” informed Thakeng.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old woman and owner of the house was arrested for possession of dagga.

The operation carried on and the police visited another house in Odendaalsrus. During the search at this property, the following were found: 4g of cocaine; 41g of khat drugs; 170g of crystal meth and 301g of dagga. As a result, a 30-year-old foreign national was arrested for dealingin drugs.

In the last incident, two males aged 30 and 28 were arrested in Kutloanong. The pair will face charges of dealing in drugs, and possession of drugs and dangerous weapon respectively. The police found and seized 9g of crystal meth which formed part of the arrests.

“All arrested suspects will appear before the Odendaalsrus Magistrate Court on Monday, June 26th,” Thakeng concludes.
