The case of statutory rape against a municipality employee in Theunissen has been postponed to Monday, 26 June, for bail application.
According to the Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the incident took place last week Thursday afternoon, on June 15th.
Allegedly, the schoolgirl was on her way home walking pass Bodiba Primary School in Joel Park, Theunissen. She then noticed an African male known to her following her.
It is further alleged that the man managed to catch up with the 13-year-old and forcefully pulled her to his house where he then raped her.
“She was raped and then released,” informed Thakeng.
Following the incident, a case of statutory rape was registered at Theunissen police station. The police managed to arrest the 46-year-old suspect on Tuesday, June 20th.
The suspect appeared before the Theunissen Magistrates Court yesterday. The case however, was postponed to Monday, June 26th, and the accused Tshepo Kobane will remain in custody.
