Five drug dealers nabbed in Botshabelo during Stop-and-Search operation

Mangaung’s Crime Combating Operations and Interventions nabbed five suspects as they continues to tackle drug trafficking throughout the region on Friday, 15 April.

According to Mangaung Metro police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane, on the day of the arrests, the Welkom Public Order Policing were patrolling U-Section, Botshabelo. Suddenly, a community member stopped and informed them of a house where drugs are sold.

The police then visited the given address.

Upon arrival, they found a an African male at the house. They requested permission to search the premises and the 37-year-old granted them access. During the search, the police found Mandrax tablets and cash hidden under the carpet.

“The authorities seized a 19 halves and six quarters of Mandrax tablets and arrested the suspect for possesssion and dealing in dagga,” added Covane.

The police continued with their Stop-and-Search activity in and around Reahola Complex.

They seized three Methcathinone bankies and cash from a 30-year-old and arrested him for possession and dealing in dagga. In the same area, a container converted into a shop was searched and the police found 174 Methcathinone bankies and cash. Authorities then arrested the 32-year-old African male at the shop.

Another African male was nabbed at Reahola Complex for possession of nine Chrystal Meth bankies and one full Mandrax tablet. The suspect voluntarily led the authorities to a house in J-Section. When they arrived, the police requested to search the premises and received permission. They fund 19 Chrystal Meth bankies and cash hidden in a wardrobe. Following the discovery of these drugs, the police arrested the 33-year-old for possession and dealing in drugs.

“Members opened case dockets at Botshabelo and Boithuso Police Stations. They also booked seized drugs in Evidence Management System and suspects remain in police custody,” informed Covane.

All suspects will appear before the Botshabelo Magistrate Court on Tuesday 19 April 2022.
