The troubled female sergeant stationed at Tweespruit police station was sent behind bars for defrauding an insurance company after registered a false claim.
Thabo Mofutsanyane police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli said that an anti-corruption team arrested the police officer at about 09:15 today, at her home.
” It Is alleged that the sergeant opened a case of house breaking and theft back in February 2022, alleging that someone broke into her house and stole her television set and clothes,” said Kareli.
“This was to allow her to claim from her insurance, the anti-corruption unit members were notified after it was identified that something does not add up,” Kareli further detailed.
The suspect made her appearance before the Tweespruit Magistrate Court where she faced charges of defeating the ends of justice.
Kareli said the suspect was granted bail and the case was postponed to 24 May for further investigation.
