The Bultfontein police arrested a farmer after receiving information that he possessed unlicensed firearms on Saturday, 09 April.
According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng, the Bultfontein Visible Policing Commander, Captain Tsediso Ramatsoele and Constable Mohlopheki Sejakonyana received the information and followed it up.
“The two officers approached the farmer and requested to search his premises,” added Thakeng.
Upon searching, the police found a rifle and another self-made one, a pistol and ammunitions.

The farmer however, could not produce a license for the firearms found and the police arrested him as a result.
On Monday, 11 April, the 51-year-old suspect will appear before the Bultfontein Magistrate Court facing possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The Free State Provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, praised Bultfontein residents for trusting the police with this sensitive information. She also applauded the officers who responded to the information without hesitation
