Crime Intelligence members received a tip-off about a man with a firearm on Saturday, 26 December 2021. They effected an arrest and firearm seizure.
CI unit engaged Welkom Public Order Policing Task Team to approach the identified male person.
Members approached the suspect at Meloding, Virginia and requested to search his residence.
During the search, police found a firearm with a serial number; live ammunitions; holster; magazine and a sport bag.

Suspect did not have documentation to be in possession of these items.
Police arrested the 22-year-old man for possession of: unlicensed firearm; ammunition and suspected stolen items.
“He will appear before Virginia Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 28 December 2021,” says Captain Thakeng.
Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale welcomed the arrest and seizure of items. He further praised Meloding residents for trusting police with information.
