Deneysville police pounce on drug suspect for selling space cookies to scholars

Police attached to the Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team clamped down on the illegal operation, where a 46-year-old suspect was arrested after being found in possession of space biscuits alleged to have been mixed with dagga, generally known as space cookies.

The alleged suspect was apprehended by police, when he was found 301 ziplocks containing dagga that is estimated to be R20 000 street value and with undisclosed amount of cash.

“Members of Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team led by Sgt Sandile Sinxezi followed up on a concerned from a community member regarding children that were admitted to their local clinic after being sold biscuits alleged to have been mixed with dagga,” said police spokesperson captain Malebo Khosana.

It is alleged that the suspect deals in dagga and sells cookies mixed with dagga to children from various schools in Deneysville.

“Upon further investigation after the members had followed leads, they found a 46 year old male originally from Bergville KwaZulu-Natal in one of the shacks at Deneysville,” Khosana revealed to Kasi Voice News. .

The suspect appeared before the Sasolburg Magistrate Court on Friday 6 May 2022.

The 46-year-old was released with a warning to re-appear before court pending the outcomes of the forensic results.

“Children are not raised by their parents alone but rather the whole community. I highly commend the strong relations and trust our community members have in our members as they too are parents. The fight against crime can only be achieved if we share a common goal. ,” concluded Maj Gen Makubo.
