A patriotic resident of Hoopstad reported a drug dealer and police managed to successfully arrest the suspect.
On Thursday, 03 March, Hoopstad SAPS station commander, Captain Lettie van Eeden, received a tip-off from a resident about a drug dealer in the township.
Duo police officers, constable William Fokwebe and sergeant Sello Nkoane from Visible Policing (VISPOL) followed up the information. They arrived at the identified house in Tikwana and requested to search the premises.
During their search, the two police officers found dagga and seized it. They also arrested a 29-year-old man for dagga possession.
The suspect will soon appear before Hoopstad Magistrate Court for possession of dagga and suspected drug dealing.
Police encourage residents to notify the authorities of illicit activities and to also participate in working together to reduce crime.
Residents may share information to SAPS via the Police Emergency number, 0860010111 or alternatively use MySAPS APP.
