An intelligence-driven operation has led to the arrest of a man linked to the business robbery case at a Post Office in Bloemfontein.
It is alleged that, on Monday 24 January 2022 the Mangaung Metro Tactical Response Team operationalised the intelligence worked out by Crime Intelligence Unit.
The police arrived at a shack dwelling in Ipopeng Informal Settlement and pounced on the suspect.
As they search the house, the team discovered a huge amount of money in a black plastic bag hidden in the head board.
Mangaung Metro media liaison colonel Thabo Covane said, the 41 year old suspect could not give an explanation of how he acquired such a large amount of money.
“He was warned of his rights according to the Constitution and then arrested,” revealed Covane.
“The second suspect stormed into the building and grabbed the postman who was busy sweeping the floor from behind holding the firearm against his head.
The first suspect ran around the counter and pointed the teller and the complainant with a firearm. She then threatened the complainant to open the safe,” he addressed further
The suspect who was arrested will appear before the Smithfield Magistrate Court today.
