Four armed robbers flee with Post Office cash and security guard’s car

The police are in hunt of four armed suspects after they attacked a security guard at a post office and managed to flee the scene with cash and a motor vehicle belonging to a guard in Oranjeville.

In a issued statement, the incident occurred on Wednesday 05 January, between 01:00 and 03:00.

According to a security guard who was on duty, he told the police that, four armed men attacked him while sitting in his motor vehicle as there is no guard room at the post office.

They tied him with his shoe laces and held him hostage at gunpoint for almost three hours whilst they broke into the post office.

He alleged that during the process he was forced to report as if everything is normal to their Controller as they held him hostage.

An undisclosed amount of cash from the post office, the security officer’s motor vehicle and other items were taken.

After being left free he immediately reported to the Saps Oranjeville.

“On arrival at the scene by SAPS members they found out that a safe was cut and the other safe containing a huge sum of cash was reported stolen including a Silver Toyota Corolla with registration number CWC 990 FS, cellphone, his wallet and bank cards,” revealed Fezile Dabi District Corporate communication officer Malebo Khosana.

Captain Khosana said a case of business robbery and theft of motor vehicle was opened for further investigation. Suspects are still at large.

“We request community members to assist in tracing the suspects by providing information to the investigating officer Sgt Ngingi Moshompela of Free State Province Organised Crime who can be contacted on the following numbers 083 316 2689,” he said.
