Another shooting spree has ensued in Free State Province today, after two people were shot dead by unknown gunmen at a shop in Central Park in Bloemfontein.
According to police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli, a group of armed men allegedly entered the shop and vigorously demanded cash, before they charged fire.
“The shop owner managed to grab one of the guns and shots were fired, the shop owner was rushed to hospital on our arrival they found two people dead,” said Kareli.
Kareli said the shop owner sustained gunshot wound in the leg.
“These suspect fled the scene after this horrific scene, and the we have launched a manhunt for the alleged suspects,” Kareli said.
Meanwhile, a multi-disciplinary police task team, which includes the Crime Intelligence and Organised Crime Unit, arrested two suspects, aged 22 and 34, for their alleged role in the murder of seven people – six women and a young man – on the Lismor farm near Kestell.
The police have recovered two firearms which belonged to the same farm house, one of which might have been used during the deadly attack.
