A multi-disciplinery operational team arrested three main foreign national drug suppliers and a woman in Bloemfonteinn yesterday morning.
According to the acting Mangaung-Metro police spokesperson, sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, the police team consisted of Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes; Provincial Organised Crime; Crime Intelligence; Counter Narcotics and Counter Surveilance; Provincial Tracking Team; Tactical Response Team; K9 Unit; Bloemfontein Mounted Unit; Flying Squad and Local Criminal Record Centre.
“Together this effective team conducted an intelligence-led operation on a syndicate dealing in drugs around Bloemfontein area,” added Kareli.
During the operation, the team arrested four foreign nationals aged 29 – 44, including a 29-year-old woman. These arrests were made at Northridge Mall and Bloemfontein CBD.
Furthermore, two vehicles, mandrax tablets, crystal meth and an undisclosed amount of cash, pocket digital weigh scale used to weigh drugs were confiscated from the suspects.
Suspects face a total of 14 cases including dealing in drugs, possession of drugs and offences relating to Immigration Act.
“The drugs confiscated prior to the arrest are estimated to be worth more than R90 000,” informed Kareli.
All four will soon appear before the court.
