The police in Welkom are in search of relatives of a teenager, who was found crying next to a butchery in Welkom CBD this morning at about 07:00.
According to an issued police statement, the girl who is believed to be around 16 or 17 of age, called herself Karabo.
“Members of Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit were engaged and tried several times to talk to the girl,” part of the statement read.
The police said she does not say much and she has a cellphone, but only four contacts were found and one of them it’s a foreigner residing in Durban.
The girl is with members of lejweleputswa District FCS as they are tracing her relatives.
