A 33-year-old man is set to appear before the Harrismith Magistrate Court tomorrow, August 12, after he was found in possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
SAPS spokesperson in Thabo Mofutsanyana district, officer Mmako Mophiring said during midnight, the police received a tip-off from concerned citizens over the alleged suspect who had unlicensed firearm in Tshiame B near Harrismith.
“They followed it up and fortunately found the owner. Upon given permission to search the house, the police found 9mm pistol firearm found hidden inside an amplifier with live rounds and magazines,” said Mophiring.

Free State provincial commissioner, general Baile Motswenyane applauded the community for trusting the police with such sensitive information.
“The unfolding succession of removing firearm from wrong hands through community information is appreciated and hope that all members of the community could do the same.
“Let’s believe in ourselves and systems of the government for justice to prevail,” said Motswenyane.
