Phuthaditjhaba man nabbed for possession of illegal firearm!

A 26-year-old suspect is set to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court today, July 26, for charges of possession of unlicensed firearm with live ammunition.

Thabo Mofutsanyana spokesperson, Mmako Mophiring said, the suspect was seen by one of the residents in Thababosiu village in Qwaqwa, desperately looking for a buyer of illegal 9mm pistol.

“Therefore, three minutes after reporting, a team of Phuthaditjhaba Tactical Response Team was activated to tactically seize the firearm and bring the matter to rest.

“The team finally identified, approached and search the suspect who was walking in the street,” said Mophiring.

The suspect was found with a Norincho 9mm pistol with serial number, one magazine and three 9mm
live ammunition.

Free State provincial commissioner, Lt general Baile Motswenyane, applauded team members for the
hard-work they put in arresting the suspect.

“It’s very important that we remove illicit firearms from the wrong hands as they become detrimental within our society.

“I also want to thank our members for taking drastic steps and did what was right in terms of the law and serving our community,” concluded General Motswenyane.
