Trio arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions

On Monday, 13 September 2021, three suspends were arrested in Thabong for possession of unlicensed firearm, live ammunition, a dangerous weapon and illegal immigration.

Members of Lejweleputswa Task Team received a tip-off which led them to Phokeng Section, Thabong. Upon their arrival, they found two African men, one of which attempted to flee, but was chased and caught. A search was conducted and a firearm and live ammunition were found in their possession.

One of the men was found to be a foreigner without proper documentation to be in the country. He was charged with illegal immigration.

Whilst at the house, another African man was seen approaching the premises. He was searched and a knife was found in his possession. He was arrested for possession of dangerous weapon.

Suspects will soon appear before Welkom Magistrate Court.

Members of Task Team were applauded for the tremendous work done in capturing the trio.
