Odendaalsrus police bust 59-year-old man for possession of dagga worth R100 000

Odendaalsrus police have arrested a 59-year-old man for possession of dagga worth over R100 000.

The man was arrested yesterday, 25 May, after the crime intelligence received a complaint about an alleged drug den in Odendaalsrus.

Police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng said officers found several bags of dagga wrapped and stashed at the back of the house.

“Members of Welkom K9 Unit and crime intelligence approached the house concerned and requested permission to search, while members were searching, they discovered 25 Dagga plants, 72 plastic bags dagga, five bottles containing dagga, 11 bags filled with dagga seeds (flavors) weighing 40,3 kg valued R100 000,” said Thakeng.

The police have arrested a 59-year-old man for possession of dagga worth over R100 000.

The suspect was arrested by the police, and he is expected to appear soon in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate Court.

The Free State provincial commissioner general Baile Motswenyane applauded the joint venture, between Welkom K9 Unit and Crime Intelligence that led to the arrest and seizure of the large quantity of dagga.
