The Ventersburg Tactical Response Team (TRT) arrested trio suspects and fatally wounded one after receiving intel of Ventersburg post office robbery.
On Monday morning, 04 April, the CI, TRT, DPCI and Ventersburg SAPS conducted a joint operation after receiving the intel.
The SAPS team stood ready for the planned armed robbery and when it occurred, the authorities confronted the suspects.
According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng, three suspects tried running away with cash but authorities arrested them and fatally shot one at the scene.

“From the operation, the police also seized two pistols with ammunitions and cash abandoned by suspects,” added Thakeng.
Furthermore, the police also seized a white Datsun Nissan Go. Preliminary investigation revealed the theft of the vehicle in December 2021, at Navalsig, Bloemfontein. This vehicle used in the commission of crime had false Northern Cape number plates.
The three suspects will soon appear before Ventersburg Magistrate Court.
FS Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, applauded the teams and the Ventersburg community for trusting the police with information.
“Our members responded instantly to the armed robbery incident, ensuring the suspects’ arrest,” concluded Motswenyane.
