Tip-off leads to 18-year-old’s arrest for truck tyre possession

A police sergeant at Ventersburg police station, Sergeant Donald Seitshiro, received information about someone who wanted to sell a truck tyre on Thursday, 31 March.

According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng, the officer used his private vehicle to follow up the received intel.

Upon arrival at the suspect’s location, the 18-year-old suspect could not provide documentation for the possession of the truck tyre. As a result, the sergeant arrested the suspect and he will soon appear before Ventersburg Magistrate Court.

Free State provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, applauded the sergeant for his patriotism. She further highlighted the arrest as a breakthrough as reports of truck tyre theft cases on the N1 increased.

“We will engage Crime Intelligence to obtain more information from the arrested suspects,” concluded the FS provincial commissioner.
