A horrific head-on-collusion of stationary truck and light motor vehicle that occurred today, 25 August 2021, has claimed three lives, includes of a male, female and an infant.
The accident occurred in the N1 road 20 km outside of Kroonstad direction of Vaal Plaza toll gate at about 13:00 has left two adults, a male and female dead as well as an infant dead.
In a statement shared with Kasi Voice News, it is alleged that a stationary truck was collided from the back by a Gold colored Toyota Etios.
“Passengers of a Toyota sedan were four, inclusive of a new born. A female passenger transported to the Kroonstad hospital was also declared dead.
Paramedics who attended the scene certified the two adults and an infant dead on the scene before rushing a male and female to hospital for medical treatment,” a statement read.
According to the driver and passenger of the involved VW truck, they have been stranded next on the road since last night around 21:00 waiting for assistance from their employer as the truck experienced mechanical problems and stuck.
“It was partially standing on top of the tarmac of the road. The driver and passenger did not sustain injuries,” Captain Khosana revealed.
A culpable homicide case was opened for further investigation by Kroonstad SAPS.
The police have advised that advance case will be released at a later stage.
