Welkom SAPS donates packs of sanitary towels to Setshabelo Primary School

As part of commemorating women’s month, the steward team of Welkom 10111 and flying squad, went beyond the call of duty as they collected funds and purchased 300 packs of sanitary towels for distribution to Setshabelo Pimary School’s school girls.

On Monday, 23 August 2021 the two units in Welkom visited the primary school on an outreach program.

Over 120 girl pupils were handed out sanitary towels and educated on their safety and Gender Based Violence against Women and Children during Women’s Month.

Lieutenant Cololonel Nosizi Mangani had an opportunity to address the pupils on Gender Based Violence against Women and Children (GBV).

She advised learners to never be silent or silenced about any form of abuse they may experience at the hands of their peers or family members.

“In order to help Police eradicate crime of Gender Based Violence against Women and Children in our communities, victims of such crimes must speak out so that the abusers are apprehended. Silence is never the answer to abuse period,” said Mangani.

Constable Mosele Lichaba also warned the pupils not to misuse the 10111 Call Centre by making false complaints.

The project formed part of the Units Women’s Month efforts to reach out to the community and assist girls with these essentials items.

The school’s Principal Pheko Mokoena and educators were grateful of this initiative by the Police.
