The 35-year-old man is due to make his first appearance before the Brandfort Magistrate Court today for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.
It was a normal school day when a 12-year-old girl was walking home from school, little did she know that a man from her neighbourhood whom she respected would have his way with her tiny body.
It is alleged that the 35-year-old suspect called her to his shack, and she innocently complied. Sadly, she was forcefully undressed and raped.
During the 16 days of activism the young girl was courageous enough to speak up about the sad ordeal.
Two months later the incident was reported, and the suspect was arrested.
Despite threats, the child kept quiet for two months until December 10 where she broke her silence and told a relative about the rape.
“Brandfort SAPS officers were dispatched to the scene, and the minor identified a 35-year-old male who was arrested for raping her,” says the Free State police.
The suspect is facing a charge of raping a minor.
Lejweleputswa district SAPS major general, Lerato Molale, praised the girl for breaking the silence and reporting what happened to her even though she was threatened.
