A manhunt has been launched for five men who gang-raped a 19-year-old girl at a local tavern in Henneman after drinking spree last Saturday, September 17.
Before the teenage girl was was gang-raped, she was threatened with knives by the alleged rapists who took turns in raping her, police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng said.
“A teenage girl was from a tavern after drinking spree and she decided to leave the premises accompanied by a male friend.
“They were walking next to Ethiopian church when they were confronted by three unknown African men armed with knives, who demanded cash and cellphones,” Thakeng elaborates.
Thakeng says two suspects attacked her male counterpart, while the third suspect placed a knife on her neck before they took her cellphone.
“She was forced to an empty stand near Uniting Church in Phomolong, where she was taped by five suspects behind the toilet,” Thakeng says.
It is alleged that after the ordeal, the five suspects fled on foot.
Case rape was opened. No arrests had been made.
