Police arrested a 52-year-old man on Thursday in Allanridge, for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter on multiple occasions since last year in 2021.
The alleged man is expected to appear before the Odendaalsrus Regional Court on Monday, August 29.
His arrest followed, after the victim opened a case of rape as she couldn’t bear the abuse any longer.
According to Lejweleputswa district police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng, it is alleged that the alleged father started to lay his hands shortly after the passing of his wife [the mother of the victim] in January 2021.
“Apparently she was sleeping on the floor in the same bedroom with her father until her father told her to sleep with him on the same bed since it was cold,” says Thakeng.
“While they were in bed the father raped his own daughter and this became a habit for couple of times. She [the victim] decided to report the incident and a rape case was registered, Thakeng added.
