A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged with rape, kidnapping, and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm after it was discovered that he had allegedly been holding his 27-year-old ex-girlfriend hostage for three days.
According to Lejweleputswa spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the victim was taken on the evening of Sunday, 10 April, at her home by her ex-boyfriend who said that they are going to fix their relationship problems.
“The victim alleged that on 10 April at about 15:00, he came under pretence that he wants to solve issues of the relationship. She agreed and went together with the ex-boyfriend to his residence,” said Thakeng.
“On their arrival, they were drinking tea when the boyfriend accused the victim that she killed the child they had together. Apparently the child passed on and buried a month ago,” he added.
It is alleged that the victim managed to escape in the early hours of Wednesday, 13 April, when the accused was asleep.
The man was arrested and will appear before the Henneman Magistrate Court soon.
