Allanridge/Bothaville R30 road claims another life!

The police are investigating a culpable homicide case following another life lost on R30 road on Thursday, 24 March.

On the day of the incident, a vehicle travelling from Carletonville had three occupants to visit their relatives in Bloemfontein.

According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng, the driver of this white Volkswagen Polo GTi was a 24-year-old male and other occupants were 18 and 26 years of age.

As the trio drove on the accident-prone R30 road, they reached the gravel road where there were recently floods.

Apparently, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle fell in the water.

The driver and the 18-year-old lady managed to escape from the sinking car and swam out of the water.

“The 26-year-old male who was the third occupant, could not make it out and he sadly drowned,” added Thakeng.

The SAPS Diving Unit members were summoned to the scene and retrieved the body from the water. Authorities also towed the vehicle out of the water. The survives never sustained any injuries.

A case of culpable Homicide was registered for further investigation.
