It is all systems to go for the accident-prone section of the R30 road outside Allanridge in the Free State after months of horror.
The deteriorated stretch of the R30 road between Allanridge and Bothaville has undergone rehabilitation following months of misery, where the road was heavily flooded.
The road came under spotlight following multiple accidents that occurred since December last year.
Amongst other horrific scenes encountered in this road, an Intercape passenger bus liner ended up trapped in the exact body of water.
While in the same month, a truck, sedan, and the famous Range Rover that went viral on social media were amongst the vehicles swept away by floods.
The road needed rehabilitation due to the high degree and extent of base failures and geological slip circles located along the route.
Free State department of roads and transport spokesperson Hillary Mophethe said, the department worked tirelessly to ensure the road is reinforced, as it forms part of the province’s second largest road that connects Bloemfontein with Rustenburg via Brandfort, Welkom, Bothaville, Klerksdorp and Ventersdorp.
