Accused Tlali Jacob Letaba (45) appeared before Ficksburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 18 October 2021, fraud and corruption charges.
This is prior to Bloemfontein Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation information received about Letaba.
Information alleged the accused was issuing unlawful motor vehicle road-worthy certificate with examiners from different private testing stations in Eastern Cape.
Furthermore the 45-year-old issued these certificates without authorized examiners inspecting vehicles. Victims then pay gratification of R1100.
Police conducted an operation on Friday, 15 October 2021, where they arranged with Letaba to issue a motor vehicle road-worthy certificate.
He demanded a gratification of R1100, and the police arrested him after receiving the money.
Letaba received a R2000 bail and the case remanded to 12 December 2021 for further investigation.
