The Welkom K9 Unit found and seized a firearm in Rietzpark, Welkom, after receiving information from the citizens on Saturday, June 24th.
According to the Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the police followed up on information received from the Reitzpark citizens yesterday. Upon arrival, the police approached the spot in a veld.
“Next to a precon wall, amidst the grass, the police found and seized a firearm,” informed Thskeng.
The acting Lejweleputswa district commissioner, brigadier Mzondi Mojafi, applauded residents for their honesty and trusting the police with this infornation. He further encouraged more of such reporting from the Reitzpark community to reduce crime in the area.
Mojafi also thanked the Welkom K9 Unit for responding instantly to information from residents.
